The Garfield is in the heart of Chevy Chase, Washington DC, a century-old neighborhood on Connecticut Avenue and walking distance to multiple amenities. The neighborhood's major commercial road is Connecticut Avenue NW, with multiple commercial establishments and apartment buildings. There are many small, generally locally owned businesses along Connecticut Avenue that are well patronized by the local population. Just a blocks away, you will find restaurants, grocery stores, Starbucks, movie theaters, banks, pharmacies, dry-cleaning, and the renowned bookstore Politics & Prose.

We are also very close to public transportation with the Friendship Heights Metro station on the Red Line a short 10-minute walk; public transportation right on Connecticut Avenue; and many cars from Car2go available in the surrounding streets. The Washington Beltway is only a few minutes north for quick access to the larger Washington Metropolitan Area.

Area schools are some of the best in Washington DC and include Benjamin Murch Elementary School, Alice Deal Middle School, and Woodrow Wilson High School. There are two private schools located in Chevy Chase D.C.: St. John's College High School Catholic high school, and Blessed Sacrament School.

The Chevy Chase Library and Chevy Chase Community Center offer multiple activities and courses for everyone while the Avalon Theatre, which opened in 1923 as a silent film house has reopened as a non-profit movie theater.

The recently updated Chevy Chase Recreation Center is an ideal place for kids and adults; there you will find a new baseball field, tennis courts and basketball courts. Rock Creek Park, just west of The Garfield, has trails will take you all the way to downtown Washington DC or north to Maryland. At Wilson High School you will find the best public indoor swimming pool in all of Washington DC, open to the public year-round and known as the Wilson Pool.

Few places are so close to quality shopping with grocery stores Safeway, Wholefoods, Giant, Trader Joes, Magruders, Rodman's less than a few-minutes walk or drive. Chevy Chase Pavilion, Mazza Gallery and The Shops at Wisconsin Place next to or at Friendship Heights have all the stores you may want to visit. Alongside Connecticut Avenue you will find wine and liquor stores, dry cleaners, banks, and multiple other services.
